Kristen Brown is a San Francisco−based painter originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Her oil paintings, based on experimental film photography, explore the themes of dislocation, transience, and memory. She has exhibited at the de Young Museum, Berkeley Art Center, Root Division, Mistlin Gallery, Carnegie Arts Center, Atelier Gallery, Cannery Gallery, Studio Gallery, Paolo Mejia Gallery, and Canessa Gallery in California, and Mendel Art Gallery, Gordon Snelgrove Gallery, AKA Gallery, and Elements Gallery in Saskatchewan. Her work has been featured by the American Craft Council and Fresh Paint Magazine. In 2015 she was awarded a painting grant from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation in Montreal. Kristen holds a B.F.A. in Studio Art from the University of Saskatchewan and an M.F.A. in Painting from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
